World Food Trucks - Hurricane Ian Free Meals Event
Residents of BVL and other Osceola County neighborhoods impacted by Ian’s flood water will be treated to homecooked meals by World Food Trucks, Florida’s biggest permanent food truck park located in Kissimmee. Six of the park’s 60 trucks will be on site at the Robert Guevara Community Center in BVL serving crowd pleasers like rice and beans, fried chicken, chicken stew, Mexican street corn and the traditional Puerto Rican arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas and pork), among other Latin delicacies. More than 500 meals will be distributed in solidarity with this hurricane Ian embattled community that is home to many of the park’s guests and employees.Thousands of homes in Osceola were flooded by the storm, including the neighborhoods of Buenaventura Lakes, Shingle Creek, Pebble Point and low-lying areas of Poinciana. Hundreds of residents are still displaced.
